The Clean Fight Collaborates With International Cleantech Network and EU Techbridge

Bringing Clean Building Innovators From Europe To New York State

We are proud to share that we are expanding our reach to clean building innovators from across the globe through a new cooperation agreement with the International Cleantech Network (ICN) and EU Techbridge (EUT).

ICN is an alliance of 16 leading cleantech clusters around the world that represents 16,000 businesses, over 100 cities and more than 80 research institutes and universities. The EU Techbridge-project, funded by the COSME-programme of the European Union, is led by Sustainable Business Hub, a Swedish Smart Cities Cluster. The project brings together five cluster organizations from across Europe to match innovative European solution providers focused on energy and water solutions, with North American customers. Together, we will identify high-impact solutions designed to overcome critical barriers to decarbonizing buildings and stimulate investment in New York’s clean energy economy.

“ICN is excited to partner with New York’s emerging energy cluster, and we look forward to leveraging our network of leading innovation ecosystems to tackle the challenge of decarbonizing New York’s built environment” said Ben Jorgensen, Head of ICN Secretariat

This collaboration will support knowledge sharing and matchmaking by mobilizing cutting-edge European cleantech businesses to apply for The Clean Fight’s accelerator program, catalyzing cleantech building solutions throughout New York State. Applications are currently open for the second edition of The Clean Fight, which will focus on high-growth, scalable solutions tackling the decarbonization of the mass-market of buildings. Often overlooked, but critical to decarbonize, greening mass-market buildings does not only have significant climate impacts, but also has the potential to improve the overall health, comfort and cost of living for residents.

“We are happy to be cooperating with The Clean Fight and believe that the accelerator program will be a valuable point of entry to the U.S market for the European SMEs who are accepted”, said Anna Tibbelin, Sustainable Business Hub, and lead project manager for the EU Techbridge-project.

Our collaboration with ICN and EUT also comes as the Department of Energy recently awarded The Clean Fight with a $992,970 grant to create Supercharge NY, a first-of-its-kind energy innovation cluster that will position New York State in a leadership position in the rapidly expanding field of next generation energy storage hardware and accelerate innovation, and research & development, across New York’s energy storage manufacturing industry. The grant is a part of DOE’s Energy Program for Innovation Clusters..

“Support for high-growth innovators in cleantech and collaboration across geographies are needed now more than ever as we collectively work towards ambitious climate goals. This collaboration will create a wider, more diverse pool of companies that have the potential to make a true impact on the clean energy economy and we are looking forward to what comes next” said Nyla Mabro, Head of Strategy for The Clean Fight.
